Pricing & Policies
What it costs, and how it works. No surprises, ever.
Every family starts with a free 15-minute consultation. Nothing is scheduled and nothing is owed until we've talked and we both think it's a good fit.
Here's everything else, in plain numbers.
WHAT SESSIONS COST
Every session is 50 minutes, one-on-one.
Homework Help — $20 Help with the work school sends home, in a standing weekly slot.
Specialized Learning — $35 Word Slayer, Math Slayer, or Full Quest. Instruction built around your student's specific gaps.
Open Tutoring — $25 A single session, booked when you need one. Prepaid at booking.
Initial Skills Snapshot — $40 A one-time session at the start of Specialized Learning. See below.
Group classes and camps are priced separately and announced when they open.
Already have a group? Homeschool families sometimes gather a handful of students and want a class taught just for them. I'm glad to hear about it. Tell me the subject, roughly how many students, and what ages, and we'll talk about what it would take. Pricing depends on the size of the group and how long the class runs.
ABOUT THE SKILLS SNAPSHOT
Before I can plan, I need to see where your student is.
Specialized Learning starts with a Skills Snapshot: one session where I work with your student and watch closely. What they reach for, where they hesitate, what they've clearly been taught and what they've been guessing at. I build their plan from what I see.
It's a single $40 session, and it happens only once, at the start. Homework Help and Open Tutoring don't require one.
The Snapshot guides my instruction. It is not a diagnostic evaluation and shouldn't be used as one. I'm a private educator, not a licensed evaluator. If you're looking for a formal evaluation, I'm glad to point you toward qualified people in the Davis County area.
HOW BILLING WORKS
Simple, weekly, no paperwork.
I send a Venmo request at the end of each week for that week's sessions.
No invoices, no contracts, no packages to buy up front.
Open Tutoring is the one exception. It's prepaid at booking, since payment is what reserves the time.
If Venmo doesn't work for your family, tell me, and we'll sort it out.
IF PLANS CHANGE
Twenty-four hours is the line.
Your student's time slot is held for them, and only for them. When a session is canceled late, that hour can't be offered to anyone else.
Cancel at least 24 hours ahead and there's no charge.
A cancellation inside 24 hours, or a missed session, is billed at half the session fee.
Open Tutoring, being prepaid, is refunded in full with 24 hours' notice and not refunded inside that window.
Sessions I never bill for:
Illness
A family emergency
Inclement weather
Any session I cancel
Just let me know. I would rather you keep a sick child home.
WHAT I’LL ALWAYS TELL YOU
If something isn’t working, you’ll hear it from me first.
If I see that your student needs something different from what we're doing, whether that's more support, less, or a different kind entirely, I'll say so. Early, and plainly.
That includes telling you when your student is ready to be done. The goal has always been independence, not a permanent appointment on your calendar.
Ready to talk?
Start with a free 15-minute consultation.
Tell me about your student and what you're seeing. We'll figure out together whether any of this is the right fit, and there's no obligation either way.
